My name is Makia Wallace, I am the Founder/President of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Orlando called Love Like Jace, Inc. Love Like Jace was founded in April 2021, after the tragic death of my 21 month old son, Jace Lucas Leslie. On September 11, 2020, Jace was left in the backseat of his caregiver car for more than 7 hours in 105 degrees temperature. After this devastating tragedy and my son becoming a statistic of hot car deaths, I knew I couldn't sit back and be silent. I decided to turn my pain into purpose. My purpose is to speak up for those who no longer can and for the ones who can't quite yet. I want people to know that this can happen to anyone. However, this CAN BE PREVENTED. I know the mental experience behind this trauma first hand. This does not have to be another mother's nightmare. Our mission is dedicated to bringing awareness and resources to the community to advance children's safety through advocacy and community outreach.
