The City of Apopka is a family-oriented community with a quality of life that makes it a good bet for investors and prospective homebuyers alike.
The Natural Environment
Apopka is surrounded by spring-fed lakes, rivers, and natural springs. Wekiva Spring’s State Park is located three miles east of Downtown Apopka. This park boasts a beautiful natural swimming area at the main springs where over forty-eight million gallons of crystal clear water flow to the surface each day. The park also boasts picnic areas, camping and canoe rentals.
Rock Springs is located six miles north of Downtown Apopka. This 200 acre park is known for its canoe run and magnificent tree canopy.
Apopka and the surrounding area offer a wide variety of recreational opportunities, from theme parks, such as Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World, to bass fishing and golf courses. The City is also part of a regional network of multi-use trails. The West Orange Trail, which goes through the City’s downtown, will eventually be a part of the 200 mile planned regional connection known as the Central Florida Loop. Central Florida is a golfer’s paradise. There are numerous golf courses within ten miles of Downtown Apopka to challenge the most ardent golfer.
In addition to the theme parks and the outdoors, the Apopka area offers a world of cultural diversions. Theatres, performing arts centers, concert halls, museums (arts, history and science), art galleries, libraries, professional sports venues offer something for everyone.
The recently completed State Road 429 enables easy access to the attractions, beaches and nearby hotels, RV parks, and campgrounds.
Apopka also has abundant shopping opportunities. Nine retail shopping centers are located in Apopka: Apopka Plaza, Apopka Square, Orange North Plaza, Palm Plaza, the Shoppe’s of Apopka, Apopka Land Regional Center, Errol Plaza, Wekiva-Piedmont Shopping Center, and the Colonial Promenade of Wekiva.
