Theresa Mott

Heather

Why did you want to serve on the Board of Directors?
As a native Apopkan and Apopka Business Owner – who is extremely passionate about the City, I wanted to develop lasting relationships with Business Leaders to positively impact the community.

What is your business philosophy?
I have a simple business philosophy which is: To deliver premier services with integrity and professionalism. Also, to treat people the way I would want to be treated.

What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is UNDENIABLY the honor of welcoming my son, Norris Jr. and daughter, Bridgett into the world! Additionally, starting my business in 1998 is a professional achievement and serving as 2006 Commencement Speaker for Phyllis Wheatley Elementary School (Alumni) is a civic achievement.

What have you found most valuable about your involvement with the Chamber?

As an engaged Member for over twelve (12) years, I have found the formation of great relationships to be most valuable. Throughout this time, I have had the honor of serving in various leadership roles, such as: Chairman of the Board; Executive Committee, Secretary/Chairman-Elect and Past Chairman, Board of Directors; Chairman, Ambassador Committee and Past V.P., Home-Based Entrepreneurs.

What do you think makes the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce different from other business organizations?
The Chamber differs from other business organizations because of its personable staff. As Past Chairman of the Board, I have worked with them directly and witnessed their dedication. They work tirelessly to offer resources, networking opportunities and other beneficial events to ensure success for its membership and the community.

What book (or author) has influenced you most in your business career?
Made in America, My Story by Sam Walton (with John Huey)

As a small Business Owner, I periodically think of take-aways from this “oldie” – but “goodie”. Mr. Sam Walton’s poignant story of how he started Wal-mart and grew it into the largest retailer in the world is beyond impressive. His, “never give up” attitude; unwavering passion; strong work ethic and eagerness to learn resonate with me because they mirror values instilled in me by my parents at an early age. Also, I admire the fact that he wasn’t afraid to take risks–he would simply assess his errs and implement methods to excel. This truly is an inspirational read.
