Why did you want to serve on the Board of Directors?
I wanted to be a part of the business community, helping it to grow and be involved with others interested in the same things. I believe the Chamber has many top quality members on the board who are trying to improve the city and the businesses we serve.
What is your business philosophy?
The businesses that we are in charge of are ours only for the time we are here. They really belong to the community and the customers we serve. If we do a good job or even a bad one when we leave or pass ownership to the ones who replace us, the business will continue to serve. Therefore, we try to be the best that we can with each day we serve.
What is your proudest achievement?
Being married to a very special lady for 50 years and having 3 sons and watching them grow into responsible young men, giving us two super grand daughters. What a blessing. Professionally…Many things come to mind but The ‘PILLAR AWARD’ given to me by the Apopka Ministerial Association for community service in 2006 was near the top and selected as Business Man of the Year by the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce in 2002. Being chosen to serve as President of Florida Press Association 1990-1991 representing all newspapers in Florida was very special also.
What have you found most valuable about your involvement with the Chamber?
Being involved with business men and women who make an impact in our community both personally and professionally.
What do you think makes the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce different from other business organizations?
The Apopka Chamber is the only organization in our community that works for all businesses. In general, the things we do are to help keep the rules that we are governed by fair and reasonable for all. If we keep that in mind as we go about our job we can and do make Apopka a better place for everyone.
